Creator Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Scandal) cleverly defied the traditional period drama model, matching color-blind casting with sumptuously colourful costumes while exploring the saucy lives of a large cast of Regency era artistocratic characters.
This online tour takes you deeper into the world of Bridgerton, connecting you to the historical houses and breathtaking country homes that form the backdrop of this reimaged England. Ranger's House in Greenwich serves as the home of Lady Bridgerton, her four sons (Anthony, Benedict, Colin, and Gregory), and her four daughters (Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, and Hyacinth), while London's extravagant Syon House appears as the Duke of Hastings' home. At each stop you’ll discover the rich history of each of these places and their real-life significance in Regency times.
The tour takes you out of London as well. We'll dash you across the countryside on an imaginary horse and carriage trip towards the spa-city Bath, where you’ll find the Holburne Museum, which in real life houses more than 10,000 treasures, posing as Lady Danbury’s personal palace. Meanwhile, a mere stone’s throw away is the Royal Crescent—one of the most prestigious addresses in England, and a frequent backdrop for Bridgerton.
For those of you who want to indulge in the finer things, there will be time to make careful study of the show's glamorous jewels, lavish dresses, and frock coats too. .Plus, as we take in the shires (Gloucestershire, Hertfordshire, Wiltshire, Yorkshire) we’ll find regal locations that also link us up with The Crown, Downton Abbey, and The King’s Speech!
