Sat 1/7: Gay Secrets of the Met Museum

  • Met Museum 100 5th Avenue New York, NY, 10011 United States (map)

Sat 1/7: Gay Secrets of the Met Museum

Our most popular tour of the Met, led by our favorite queer guide, Professor Andrew Lear

Meet and depart at 1pm from the Pharaoh statue just the main entrance

Cost: $55 full price*; $49 seniors*; $25 Met members and students

Early Bird Sale: Get $5 off* with code "Early"

We will explore some of the Met's queer treasures, from ancient Greek nudes (and erotic vase-painting, on which Professor Lear is a world expert!) to homoerotic works from the Renaissance, and a panoply of modern works, some by LGBT artists, some portraying LGBT people, and some expressing same-sex desire. Famous artists and personalities, such as Caravaggio or Gertrude Stein, will appear-but so will lesser-known artists and works whose homoerotic charge is often ignored (including images used in homosexual initiation rites in New Guinea!).

*Expires 12/31/16 at midnight. Not valid on prior sale or in combination with other offers

**NOTE: "Full Price" and "Senior" price include cost of admission to the museum as well as the tour. The $25 cost for Met members and students is for the tour only (please bring your member ID or student ID to gain entry to the museum). The tour is operated by Oscar Wilde Tours and is not officially an offering of the Met Museum. Price of admission does not include beverages. No refunds or exchanges.
