CONSERVATION REFUGE, Portage - We leave Anchorage and begin
our journy is our nifty van (no - this is not a cruise).
First stop is this dandy wildlife refuge about an hour outside
of Anchorage. The place is chock full of wildlife that
is native to Alaska. This is where they bring a lot of
tourists off of those cruises so they can say that they saw
a moose. Little did we know that we would see most of
these animals in the wild within a few days. We begin
with a visit with the bald eagle:
